St Michael’s Parish Hall

St Michael’s Monday Club as the name suggests meets every Monday in the Church Hall. Our meetings run from around 2pm to 4pm.

The meetings are aimed mainly at the over 60s in the community but in reality there is no age barrier. The aim of the meeting is to provide a collective group where individuals can meet each other and enjoy some  home made cakes and refreshments, some friendly chat and a few games of bingo.

The members also enjoy lunches out at local restaurants and eateries on a number of occasions throughout the year as well as having their own small party at Christmas.

This is all provided for an annual membership of £1 per person and a weekly entrance of 50p.

Every one welcome. Just turn up or  further information tel Hilda on 0161 280 0350

Have a cuppa, chat, game of bingo and the occasional meals out.  Come along any Thursday 2 – 4pm in the Archangel Room and you will be most welcome.  If you like Bingo you’ll love us.  For further information contact Monica on 0161 766 6206.

Every Tuesday morning at 10.00am, between 12 and 18 people with a common interest in gardening meet at St Michael’s Hall.  We meet for around an hour and a half and mostly we sit, drink coffee and chat.  Sometimes, the talk is about gardening but mostly it’s about whatever is of general interest at the time.  The more energetic of us sometimes play table tennis or indoor bowls.

There is a community garden nearby on Albert Road and this gives a great opportunity for people who want to do some proper gardening to get stuck in.  Some members may only have a small garden or no garden at all and the community garden gives them plenty of scope to grow whatever they want.  There is also a large greenhouse for people to use.

More than anything, the garden club is a great opportunity for friends to get together regularly at St Michael’s and socialise.

Hirers are welcome to organise their own catering and banqueting or, if you wish, we can provide you with help and support about how to access this locally through our list of local suppliers.

We have particular rules about catering though which have been put together to ensure proper food safety and hygiene standards are maintained whatever you choose to do. Below is the extract from our Health and safety instructions which summarises the main conditions:

Parties and organisations preparing buffets and refreshments are not permitted to set out food more than three hours before the time of intended consumption and are asked to store at a safe temperature prior to this.

Food supplied brought in pre-prepared must be in kept chilled accordance with the food and hygiene recommendations and be prepared to give details of allergens in the foods

Use of the kitchen and its equipment is only with prior arrangement

If you intend to organise your own catering we request you refer to the food safety guidelines for such found at food.gov.uk.
