Throughout the month of September, our parish St Vincent de Paul (SVP) Conference is sharing a weekly snapshot of their work over the past twelve months. This week, we are highlighting their wonderful pastoral support and work with our local schools.

Pastoral & Community Support

Befriending and spending time with people is at the very heart of the SVP’s mission. Over the past year, our parish members have:

• Spent over 150 hours visiting parishioners in their own homes, care homes, and hospitals, alongside regular phone check-ins.
• Transported essential donations of food and toiletries—collected by the children of St Bernadette’s School—to the SVP Food Bank in Heywood.

Supporting Our Local Schools & Families

Our SVP team works closely with local families to ensure every child gets the support and joy they deserve:

• Vinnie Camp: In July, the SVP sponsored five children from our parish schools to attend an unforgettable five-day residential camp in Snowdonia.
• Uniform Vouchers: Provided £350 in school uniform vouchers to help seven local families get ready for the new school year.
• Seasonal Cheer: Spent £175 on Christmas gifts and provided 10 Easter chocolate hampers for families needing extra support.
