Throughout September, we’ve been sharing the wonderful work of our St Vincent de Paul (SVP) Society. As the month draws to a close, we want to look back with gratitude on everything our SVP Conference has achieved over the past twelve months – offering a listening ear, a helping hand, and friendship across St Michael’s and St Bernadette’s.
Our Year at a Glance
- 150+ Hours of Visiting & Befriending: Spending time with parishioners at home, in care homes, and in hospital, as well as keeping in touch over the phone.
- 5 Children Sponsored: Sent on an unforgettable five-day residential Vinnie Camp in Snowdonia.
- 7 Families Assisted: Supported with £350 in school uniform vouchers for the new academic year.
- Seasonal Cheer: Provided £175 in Christmas gifts and 10 Easter chocolate hampers for local children needing extra support.
- Community Action: Delivered carloads of food, toiletries, and pre-loved items from our Lent appeal to the SVP Food Bank in Heywood and the SVP shop in Bury.
- Parish Events: Supported Fr Steven with June’s Mass with Anointing of the Sick, alongside our Parish Impact Group and refreshments team.
- Advice & Care: Offered guidance and practical signposting for individuals facing difficult financial situations.
