There was a wonderful sense of joy across our parish today (13 September) as our altar servers were enrolled into the Guild of St. Stephen.
During the ceremony at both Sunday Masses, Fr. Steven presented each Altar Server with their Guild medal which they will wear every time they serve at Mass. Each Altar Server’s name has also been added to our parish’s beautiful Guild Register, which will be updated as new Servers join.
Serving with Care, Reverence, and Understanding
As members of the Guild, our Altar Servers are called to carry out their duties with prayer, care, reverence, and understanding – knowing not just what they do, but why they do it.
They join an international tradition of service that dates back to 1904, when the Guild was first founded in London by Fr. Hamilton McDonald. Taking Saint Stephen as their patron and guide, Altar Servers follow the example of a saint who showed that true service means living for others, using our unique gifts to spread the Good News, and helping our whole community pray together as one family.
A Heartfelt Thank You
Fr. Steven expressed our parish family’s immense appreciation for these young people, recognizing the wonderful contribution they make to our worship every single week.
May God always bless them, may they continue to be faithful in their service at the altar, and may they grow daily in faith, hope, and love. Amen
