The safeguarding of children, young people, and vulnerable adults is at the heart of the Church’s mission. In the Parish of St Michael and St Bernadette, we recognize the personal dignity and rights of all people, and we are committed to ensuring a safe and supportive environment for everyone in our community.
Our Commitment
Following the “One Church” approach of the Catholic Church in England and Wales, we aim to embed a culture of constant vigilance. We do this by:
Creating a Safe Environment: Ensuring all parish activities are carefully planned and supervised.
Safer Recruitment: In line with Diocesan policy, our volunteers undergo Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks and receive regular training.
Responding with Care: Taking every concern seriously and working closely with statutory agencies and the Diocesan safeguarding team to ensure any allegations are handled promptly and professionally.
