Easter is a time of great joy, and this year our parish family has felt that joy in an even fuller way as six of our parishioners became new members of the Church, receiving the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist during the Easter Vigil – a truly wonderful gift!
The joy in the church was palpable, and witnessing this important moment in their lives was a highlight for our whole community.
Finding God in the Ordinary
In his homily, Fr Steven reflected on the power of the Resurrection, saying:
Jesus says to the disciples, “Go back to Galilee, you will see me there.” Galilee was where they were living their lives when he called them. They are given a promise that they will find the Risen Lord at home, in their lives, in their ordinary days – and we are given that promise, too.
This night we pray that the promise of the power and presence of the Risen Lord is reality in the lives of these our brothers and sisters.”
A Wave of Renewal
Their reception comes at a time when the Catholic Church in England and Wales is welcoming its highest number of new Catholics in at least fifteen years, with the Diocese of Salford having over 100 catechumens and candidates joining the Church this Easter.
We are grateful that our parish is sharing in this encouraging wave of renewal. We hold each of them in our prayers with gratitude and joy as they continue their faith journey.
A Place to Belong
For anyone who wishes to explore or learn more about the Catholic faith, our Journey in Faith group is a welcoming space. Whether you are new, returning, or simply curious, you are warmly invited to join us. Meeting dates and times are published each week in the Parish Newsletter, and you are always welcome to speak to Fr Steven after Mass.
