“The cross speaks to us of God’s saving love for all people, for all time!” These words from Fr Steven captured the heart of our Good Friday Walk of Witness with our friends from Whitefield Methodist Church.
Walking in silent reflection, we carried the Cross from Elms Street to St Bernadette’s. It was more than just a walk; it was a powerful public witness to our local community and a shared moment of prayer and reflection.

In his reflection on the scripture reading from Philippians 2, Fr Steven highlighted that those ancient words have been prayed by Christians for nearly 2,000 years, uniting us with the early Christians and with our brothers and sisters across the world today.
“We are united with one another here now in Jesus’ name. And we are united with our brothers and sisters throughout the world in Jesus’ name. In and through the power of the cross, which speaks to us of God’s saving love for all people, for all time. We pray that on this day, we can renew ourselves in the Love of God, through the power of the cross of Christ.”

Fr Steven prayed that this act of witness might touch the hearts of those who passed by, “that they too may know, through its power, something of the loving presence of God in their lives.”

The walk concluded with a prayer service at St Bernadette’s, followed by the installation of the Cross in the church garden, where it remains as a visible reminder of God’s love for all.
